Great little laptop - I got this a couple of days ago, and set it up yesterday. Set up was very easy, even for a non-technohead. It leads you through the setup clearly. Don t expect a hardcopy manual though - there s a brief leaflet that pretty much just tells you how to connect the power cord and switch it on. The system then leads you through basic setup on screen (N.B. when it asks you what type of keyboard you have, choose UK - it suggests US as default, but then you ll never find your @ symbol). There s an electronic manual on the desktop which is worth a look at some stage, although isn t required to get started. Attaching to my home wireless internet was easy (once I d remembered where I d stored the network settings).Comes with Windows XP, Internet Exporer, Media Player and PDF viewer pre-installed. Also a 3 month license for McAfee anti-virus (if you want to install other anti-virus such as Kaspersky, make sure you uninstall McAfee first to avoid conflicts). So you re ready to roll with the internet, playing music/movies, reading PDFs. However, if you want to do Word, Excel etc you ll need to buy MS Office (if you don t have it already).Once set up, it does a backup of the initial setup so that you can always (if worst comes to worst) roll back to its original state. It also had to download some updates for Windows and it recommended I download Internet Explorer 7, which I did. I guess it s a shame that wasn t the pre-installed version but updating it was easy enough. While it may not be up to the power of the high spec laptops out there, so far it seems to more than keep pace with my 3 year old Acer laptop - and in a much smaller package. So long as you re not looking to do lots processor-hungry applications (e.g. serious gaming or video editing may struggle) this should fit the bill nicely. I got this primarily as a very portable laptop for doing a quick bit of web browsing and also for reading PDFs and taking notes, all of which it handles well. Highly recommended!

Samsung NC10 - I have been wanting for a small laptop since the Asus EEE and i have looked into all the models out there and overall this is the best for me.At the time of writing this the samsung nc10 in the uk is the best spec.I was hanging on till the sim slot version of this comes to the uk but i could not wait any longer plus as newer versions of dongles that come out you will be able to keep up with the times, rather than been left with a older modem built in. Plus with a dongel and usb extention you can get a better signal. The Battery is 6 cell 5200MAH and seems to last forever. Its possible its the best looking of all the mini laptops but the acer one was very nice too.It does not come over bloated with junk software either, but does have a 3 months mcafee trial and samsung stuff with the samsung recovery software which i have used on bigger samsung laptops and it works very well. Some people are putting in more memory when 1gb is enought for xp ?Some have mentioned no optical drive but none of the mini laptops do.Small touch pad yes it has but all of them do because its a small layout, but it does not take long to get use to it.It runs very fast as long as you install everything correctly and don t let loads of tool bars get installed etc also these would decrease your screen size when viewing the web. When this laptop is on battery the default setting for brightness drops, which can be quickly increase or you can do a custom setting. In either case its still clear after me using a ibm lenovo, this samsung is brighter when dim than a ibm lenovo on full brighness.Bad points none really but if any its a sharp edge where you put your wrists but none of the others mini laptops are much better. Its heavy but this is the 6 cell battery, also the battery digs into your knees. But when you have a battery this good its a tiny price to pay.Its a good clear screen and easy to read but note its not a crystal bright type screen like the acer one. If you get one of these i don t think you be disapointed!!Its been running two hours now and i have 82% left

A Bobby Dazzler! - This item is a real Bobby Dazzler I had serious doubts about the speed via the atom processor. No need to worry, it is really superb and very quick. I don t do any gaming, so can t speak for that aspect but for basic stuff it is really excellent.Good quality feel with almost a full size keyboard. Picks up a wireless connection like magic, loved the simple Samsung network manager that networked me in moments. So far can t fault it, a really great buy.....don t hesitate.....get it!

Little Gem - Having had this for only 2 days i have to say it s brilliant. Yes the trackpad is a little small but that really isn t a problem and you get used to it quickly. The keyboard is lovely, well set out and has a lovely action, not at all tinny like some netbooks.I actually replaced XP Home with XP Pro, because i may use it in a domain environment, and it was a breeze to install. Yes, i know it probably invalidates the warranty nevertheless it s quick and extremely stable with SP3. I have had no problem with wireless drop out at all and it connects to my Dad s (i m on holiday) Netgear wireless router without fail every time it loads Windows. I have only fully charged it once and the battery says it has 35% remaining and i ve used it a lot.Office 2007 runs very well and there is no lag when typing a document. In fact for £20 you can get a 2Gb DIMM from Crucial which will no doubt make it even speedier. All in all a top class piece of kit with excellent build quality, highly recommended.

its great! - the samsung nc10 is a great netbook that is light goodlooking and affordable. the web browser on the samsung nc10 runs quickly even when connected to a wireless connection. it does come with a ninety day trial with mcaffe home securirity but i unistalled that and installed norton 360. granted there are a few limitations with a netbook i.e the lack of a disk drive. so this netbook is best to buy if you already have a pc so you can put applications on a usb stick and install them that way. the keyboard is fantastic and is quite quiet. the touch is quite small but it does its job. the single button for let/right click can get a bit annoying at firts but not so bad when you get used to it. so overall its a smashing netbook that is best for net centric computing.
